Grants McCance-Katz
| Elinore McCance-Katz, MD, PhD received a new grant supplement (RO1 AA 018001 1S (PI) 12/1/10-11/30/12 $100,000) to study drug interactions between a new HIV medication, maraviroc, and alcohol. (Interaction of Alcohol and HAART in HIV/AIDS and HIV/AIDS and HCV Co-Infection) | Yaffe | Kristine Yaffe, MD received a competitive R01 renewal funding this summer. This is a five-year grant with approximately $600K per year. In total, Kristine will have two new R01s starting this summer, one through NCIRE and one through UCSF. |

Awards and HonorsNews from Clinical Faculty Flowers | Loma K. Flowers, MD, founder and CEO of the educational non-profit Equilibrium Dynamics (EQD) was the recipient of its first two grants to contribute to the wider dissemination of emotional competence education. A grant of $10,000 awarded by the San Francisco Foundation helped fund a project offering emotional competence training to parents, teachers and students at McClymonds High School in Oakland. A second grant of $25,000 was awarded by UCLA. This grant (administered by the Public Health Insitute, Oakland) funded a pilot training program at UCLA School of Public Health to teach the EQD emotional competence curriculum to mentors. EQD plans to replicate this training program in San Francisco during 2011.
